Nashville, TN - July 22, 2010 - Between his active touring schedule, recording artist, worship leader, songwriter and producer Anthony Evans recently stopped by his hometown of Dallas, Texas to lead worship for the "No More Excuses" Men's Conference, held on Saturday, July 10th. The conference was hosted by Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, a church pastored by his father, Dr. Tony Evans.
There were numerous highlights throughout the day-long conference, such as the appearance of former President George W. Bush as well as Tony Dungy, former NFL head coach of the Superbowl Champions Indianpolis Colts. Bush gave a speech sharing words of encouragement, while Dungy was the event's keynote speaker before 1500 attendees.
Another highlight was the performance of Anthony Evans' own arrangement of "The Star Spangled Banner," which he shared just prior to the President's speech at the conference. Evans also performed his stunning rendition of the song during a luncheon with leaders of the Dallas area where President Bush gave a keynote address sharing about his faith during his back to back terms. At the luncheon, Evans additionally spent some individual time with President Bush discussing faith and politics.
Everyone in attendance was able to experience Evans' performance of "The Star Spangled Banner" and were impacted greatly, especially Coach Dungy. "Having been a coach in the National Football League for 28 years, I have seen many National Anthems performed," Dungy shares. "Anthony Evans'...rendition was unique and inspiring. I would put [his] right up there with Whitney Houston's and Jennifer Hudson's, done at Super Bowls, as one of the most stirring that I have heard."
Anthony Evans' version of "The Star Spangled Banner" has been available since June for free download at his website. It was a way for Evans to honor the 4th of July holiday as well as create his own arrangement to a song he has always wanted to record.
